PMA OF SA ANNUAL CONFERENCE Invite alternately read the Abstract
Some of the PMA’s achievements have been:
- Holding an annual Symposium, and inviting international specialists in the P/M field to form ties and keep members abreast of the latest technologies.
- Organising an international conference in South Africa in 1995.
- Facilitating the certification of local technologists by creating access to external examinations that are written by participants abroad such as the Powder Metallurgy Technologist (PMT) Certification Program given by the American Powder Metallurgy Institute (APMI) International.
- Organising training workshops in the area of hard metals. These workshops have been run on numerous occasions throughout the years.
- Promoting student participation in the PMA’s annual Symposium by incorporating a student competition with a prize (the Parsons Memorial prize) being awarded for the best technical paper. Further, sponsoring a prize for the best P/M related poster at the poster day of the School of Process and Materials Engineering of the University of Witwatersrand.
- Holding a Sintering Workshop in 2003 and Powder Forming Technologies Workshop in 2005 (currently pending). These areas are general to P/M and are of benefit to all members involved in P/M applications
- Networking with other Associations abroad such as the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) and the APMI.
